Eric Church announces plans for a six-story entertainment venue in downtown Nashville

AUBURN, Ala. (January 28, 2022) — Country superstar and 2020 CMA Entertainer of the Year Eric Church is teaming up with renowned chef to bring together his passion for music and Carolina BBQ at his new megabar, Chief’s.

Church is partnering with real estate and hospitality entrepreneur Ben Weprin as co-owners of the venue located at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Broadway, the former Cotton Eyed Joe building.

His Carolina roots will be reflected on the menu thanks to Charleston pitmaster and James Beard Award Winner Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ.

Mayor John Cooper is excited for what Chief’s will bring to Music City. “Bringing a seated music venue to Lower Broadway while revitalizing and preserving a historic building is exactly the kind of investment Nashville’s entertainment sector needs,” he said.

Church began his career sequestered in rural North Carolina before taking Nashville by storm. “I remember driving through downtown Nashville over 20 years ago with a pawn shop guitar, riding shotgun in a beat-to-hell truck just trying to chase a dream. Chief’s is the culmination of catching that dream,” reflects Church.

Church has been closely involved in the planning process of the venue, with the intention to begin renovating the space this year for the projected opening in 2023.
